The lava lake at Kilauea’s summit receded out of view as of Thursday morning.
Spatter from the lake was visible Tuesday and Wednesday as the volcano went through an inflationary period. The lake was about 66 feet below the crater rim Wednesday.
But 24 hours later it had dropped to a depth of 105 feet, out of view from the Jaggar overlook.
