Ely Ramos Acierto, 93, of Keaau died Aug. 17 at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Facility in Hilo. Born in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte, the Philippines, he was a retired cane truck driver for the former Puna Sugar Co. and member of Keaau Heights Kumiai and St. Joseph Catholic Church. Visitation 8-10 a.m. Monday (Aug. 29) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Prayer service at 10 a.m. Casual attire; flowers welcomed. Burial at Homelani Memorial Park, Lehua Section. Survived by wife, Estrella Acierto of Keaau; daughters, Amalia (Elroy Rapoza) Acierto and Stella (Lynol Waipa) Acierto of Keaau; sons, Edwin (Jeanette) Acierto of Keaau, Aldrin Acierto of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Rodney Acierto of Brooklyn, N.Y.; brother, Ricardo Acierto of Honolulu; six grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
