Henry Edward de la Cruz, 63, of Hilo died Sept. 29 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was a U.S. Marine Corps Vietnam War veteran awarded the Purple Heart and member of Hale ‘Oluea Clubhouse. Memorial service 9:30 a.m. Wednesday (Oct. 12) at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 522 Ponahawai St., Hilo. Visitation to follow. Noon urn burial at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Gayle Schouborg Johnson, 78, of Kailua-Kona, formerly of Bonita, Calif., died Sept. 23 at home. Born in Beatrice, Neb., she was a homemaker, retired music and piano teacher and a member of Alpha Chi Omega XI Chapter, University of Nebraska, and served on the Chula Vista (Calif.) Shigeyoshi Katekawa, 93, of Honomu died Sept. 28 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Papaikou, he was a retired cultivation supervisor for the former Mauna Kea Sugar Co. and member of Honomu Hongwanji Kyodan and Hui Okinawa. Services held. No flowers or koden (monetary gifts). Survived by sons, Kenneth Katekawa of California, Michael (Shirley) Katekawa of Ewa Beach, Oahu, and Lloyd Katekawa of Waimea; brother, Nobuichi Katekawa of California; sister, Harue (Shintoku) Kise of California; a grandson and a granddaughter; two nieces and a nephew. Aurora Leonida Los Banos, 91, of Honolulu, formerly of Hilo, died Sept. 14 at Kuakini Medical Center in Honolulu. Born in Honolulu, she was a retired Bank of Hawaii clerk. Visitation 5-6 p.m. Friday (Oct. 14) at Mystical Rose Oratory, Saint Louis School in Honolulu. Service at 6 p.m. Inurnment at a later date at National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Punchbowl. Survived by sons, Allan Jr., Michael, Timothy and Chad; daughters, Camelia Los Banos, Marie C. Martinez and Siena Lee; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
