Masashige Akamine, 93, of Hilo died Sept. 26 at the Legacy Hilo Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Born in Hilo, he was a retired real estate developer, co-owner of the former Hilo Food Town Supermarket, member of Hilo Meishoin Mission and Hui Okinawa. Private services held. No flowers; no koden (monetary gifts). Survived by wife, Kimiko Akamine of Hilo; son, Howard (Doreen) Akamine of Kaneohe, Oahu; daughters, Dayle (Keith) Nishimura of Mililani, Oahu, Janice (Russell Ono) Akamine of Honolulu, Margaret (Allan) Yokoyama of Mililani; brother, Baldwin (Dorothy) Akamine of Honolulu; four grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
