Members of Team Island Yarn and Art Aloha Spinners, from left, Shannon Mathers, Verylann Grace, Joyce Jennett, Cathy Fulton, Victoria Sanders and Kije Hazelwood hand-spin yarn Saturday at Volcano Garden Arts in Volcano as part of Spinzilla week. Spinzilla is a national event that benefits the National Needle Arts Association. Teams of spinners compete to make as much yarn as possible in a week. This is the first year Hawaii has had a team. As of mid-Saturday, the team, sponsored by Island Yarn and Art, had spun nearly 13,000 yards.
