‘None of the above’
How can a voter with the information available about the two presidential candidates, in conscience, vote for either one?
It is not just about voting for the lesser of two evils. It is about our political system being so screwed up that we are presented with such awful choices. The system is so messed up that there really is no reasonable choice.
Which of the two will do the least harm to our nation and our way of life? Since they are both so untrustworthy, there is no way to tell.
What I can tell is that I am completely disgusted with the entire stupid fiasco.
If Hillary Clinton wins, we can expect her to pay back what she received from important donors and more deadlock in Congress. If Donald Trump wins, we can expect America’s global trade to dry up when isolationism and tariffs are invoked.
We can expect an immediate reaction from our trade partners. We can expect women to lose the right to choose, well, just about anything.
And we can expect another war, whoever wins. And more debt that cannot be paid.
So, I cannot, in good conscience, vote for either of the candidates. At some later date, I would surely rue the vote I cast. I would have to answer for that vote to my family and friends and my nation.
I am a patriot. I do not see any way to vote for either candidate, and feel I am doing the right thing for our nation.
Fortunately, the people who actually run things probably will continue to run things. They are not subjected to stupid things such as having to run for office. The oligarchy that runs things will make it much easier for themselves by passing laws and rules and regulations that benefit their bottom line. And we will just keep on trying to make ends meet and die from all the toxins and wars, etc., to which they subject us.
So, when you all go to the polling place soon, remember to check “none of the above.” And go home and pray a lot. Because our nation is in big, big trouble.
Our coins say it all, “In God We Trust.” They had it right all along.
