Celebrated fashion designer Anne Namba returns to Hilo to stage her popular fashion show and sale from 10 a.m-2 p.m. Oct. 22 at the Hawaii Japanese Center.
The event is free and everyone is welcome. Doors will open at 9:45 a.m.
Namba is best known for her use of exotic Asian silks in her original, one-of-a-kind designs and will be on hand to personally narrate the fashion show. This year, Namba will introduce to Hilo her latest Wings silk print, Moon Blossoms, Ribbon Cranes and one-of-a-kind kimono couture.
The fashion show will feature friends and supporters of the Hawaii Japanese Center as models, adding to the popularity and flavor of the event. The fashion show will be followed by the sale of the featured pieces, along with items from Namba’s annual sale.
The Hawaii-born Namba graduated from the prestigious Fashion Institute of Technology in New York and honed her skills in New York, including a year working in the costume department at Radio City Music Hall. She returned to Hawaii in 1985 and launched her own boutique in 1989.
A portion of each sale will benefit the Hawaii Japanese Center, a nonprofit organization located at 751 Kanoelehua Ave.
For more information about the fashion show and sale, contact the center at 934-9611 during office hours, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday, or visit http://www.hawaiijapanesecenter.com.
