David “Kawika” Kaiwi, 74, of Waimea died Oct. 10 in Honolulu. He was retired from Surveyors Engineers Hawaii and was senior pastor at New Beginnings Assembly of God. Clifford Drew Kopp, 60, of Kailua-Kona died Oct. 14 at Kona Community Hospital. He was a dentist who served the community of Kona, a Rotarian, humanitarian and active community member. Takashi Nonaka, 91, of Papaikou died Oct. 12 at home. Born in Kaiakea, Ninole, he was a retired manager for Brewer Chemical Laboratory, former chief instructor for Shin Shin Toitsu Aikido/Hawaii Ki Federation, former head instructor for Hilo Ki-Aikido Club and member of Papaikou Hongwanji Mission Kyodan, Hilo Crescent City Lions Club, and Kumamoto Doshi Kai. The late Elpidio Derasin Ulep worked at the True Value–Orchidland General Store in Keaau, and is survived by, among others, sister, Emi (Artemio) Sibucao of Pahoa. Her name was misspelled and the full name of the store was omitted from an obituary published Sunday.
