Hilo High fundraiser

The Hilo Athletic Committee in partnership with the Hilo High School athletic department will hold its annual Fall Steak-fry Fundraiser from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at the school gym to support the school’s athletic department.

Kiawe-grilled steak plates will be on sale to the public that day for $9 each and ready for pick-up.

Pahoa meeting on tap

Pahoa High athletics will be having a winter season mandatory parent athletic meeting from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Nov. 15 at the school cafeteria.

• Pahoa will be having First-Aid, CPR and AED training for all school coaches from 3:30-7:30 p.m. November 17 in the school gym.

5K Run/Walk for Literacy

FL-WR will be holding its 7th annual Walk/Run for Literacy on Nov. 12. Participants may pre-register at flwr-runforliteracy.com/2016/. The event will start and end at the Waikoloa School parking lot.

The race will start at 7:30 a.m. with on-site registration starting at 6:15 a.m.

Cost is $20 for adults pre-registered online, $30 for on race day, and $10 for keiki (12-and-under). Price includes an event T-shirt. Keiki in strollers are free. T-shirts are only guaranteed if registered before Oct. 15.

After the Walk/Run, there will a silent auction and a free health fair.
