When an FBI director can dismiss charges because he knows they could never convict, only to reopen the case again 10 days before an election in order to influence the election, we are not free.
When we allow politicians to guide us in ignoring a country such as Russia trying to influence our election, then we are not free.
Most politicians are self-serving and tell you what you want to hear. And as long as you obey their wishes, you are not free. America is only a shadow of freedom, which is why we are always talking about it.
We want to believe it, but compared to other wealthy nations, we are trailing miserably.
We are all just puppets for our political and corporate masters. And will continue to be so as long as we repeat what we are told to repeat, without thinking for ourselves.
Now run along and get back to your low-paying job, while our masters fly around in jets to their mansions.

Save the center
The joyful child’s drawing of a smiling sun symbolizing the Children’s Discovery Center in Honolulu is in danger of setting forever (“Children’s Discovery Center struggling as homeless troubles persist,” Honolulu Star-Advertiser, Oct. 20).
Revenue and attendance have declined disastrously in the past few years because of fears of safety from the former homeless encampments.
We can save the center. Donate. Attend. Recently when I visited, I was impressed with how beautiful, clean and safe the park was. Don’t be afraid to go. Only be afraid of the center disappearing if you don’t.
Don’t have a child but want to be one? Go and enjoy the children’s fascination of discovery, or borrow a relative’s kids. They’ll thank you. A lot!
We can’t let our children’s dreams die because we didn’t care enough to save them. It takes a village to raise a child, but it takes the community to sustain them.
The humble, sunny-yellow building with the cheery smokestack is a gem set just beyond the imposing high-rises of Kakaako. It’s not only staffed with heart and soul, it’s blessed with the little hearts and souls who enter it.
Please keep that happy sun beaming on our keiki.
