Police announced Friday that they located a suspect wanted on suspicion of burglary and theft.
“From the latter part of 2015 to the present, agriculture property owners and farmers in the Keaau area have been reporting an increased number of thefts and property damage,” authorities reported. “Community Policing officers, working in conjunction with farmers, land owners and Neighborhood Watch groups, focused resources toward this crime trend and identified suspects.”
Keanu K. Krause, 20, of Kurtistown was arrested Thursday “at a farm warehouse on Ranch Road in Keaau,” according to a statement by police. Authorities had sent out notices that Krause was wanted.
He was charged with theft and released after posting $250 bail. The burglary charge remains under investigation.
“His alleged accomplice, Dyson Dale Sarme-Medeiros of Mountain View, was arrested last month and charged with nine offenses in connection with a string of property crimes on agriculture lands in the Keaau area, including the one on Ranch Road,” the police noted.
Sarme-Medeiros was charged with two counts of burglary, two counts of unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle, three counts of theft, one count of unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle and one count of property damage.
