Fujie Kawachika, 97, of Hilo died Nov. 2 at the Legacy Hilo Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Born in Pepeekeo, she was a member of the Waiakea Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, proprietress of the former Kawachika Fish Market in Hilo, employed as a pantry helper at the former K.K. Tei Restaurant and worked at Orchids of Hawaii as a flower arranger. Visitation 9-10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 18, at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Service at 10 a.m. Casual attire. The Rev. Charlene “Char” Tai-Weigel, 59, of Hilo died Sept. 22 at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu. Born in Waimanalo, Oahu, she was a licensed massage therapist and owner/operator of Healing Touches Therapeutic Centers of Kailua, Oahu, and Hilo. Her ashes will be spread at her favorite fishing spot on the Big Island. Survived by husband, Rex A. Weigel; longtime companion, Kurtis Nelson; sons, Glenn (Shannon) Ida, Garrett (Talia) Ida and Gregory (Cynthia) Ida of Oahu, Gavin (Shana) Ida of Hawaii; daughter, Taislynn Leialoha Weigel of Las Vegas; seven grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
