Women’s suffrage film to be screened at UH-Hilo

The Women’s Center at the University of Hawaii at Hilo is observing Women’s Empowerment Month with a free public screening of the film “Iron Jawed Angels” at 5 p.m. today in UCB Room 100.

Refreshments will be provided.

“Iron Jawed Angels” is the little-known story of a group of passionate and dynamic young women led by Alice Paul and her friend Lucy Burns, who put their lives on the line to fight for American women’s right to vote.

The event is sponsored by the UH-Hilo Women’s Center and the American Association of University Women Hilo chapter.
