FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Relatives of a man who survived the attack on Pearl Harbor said they soon will travel to Hawaii to place his remains with those of his identical twin, who was killed when the Japanese attacked nearly 75 years ago.
Pearl Harbor survivor John Anderson died in 2015, and his remains were cremated. His family members in Fargo-Moorhead said they plan travel to Hawaii to inter his remains at the sunken USS Arizona on Dec. 7 next to his brother, Jake Anderson.
Keith Anderson, John Anderson’s nephew, said Jake Anderson was killed by machine gunfire while trying to get to his anti-aircraft gun station on the deck. John Anderson, who survived a second wave of attacks on the ship, rescued others who were injured.
A Navy SEAL team will dive underwater and inter the remains at Jake Anderson’s final resting spot Dec. 7, according to Keith Anderson.
