The Hawaii Tribune-Herald is preparing to publish a holiday wish list.
Individuals who might not otherwise receive holiday gifts will be featured.
Nonprofit organizations that serve such clients are asked to email the organization’s name, address and phone number to jhansel@hawaiitribune-herald.com by noon on Friday (Nov. 25).
Tell us the age and gender of your client(s) and the item(s) they hope for.
The newspaper’s list will allow potential donors to drop off gifts at individual nonprofit locations.
Team to spread aloha at zoo
The Friends of the Zoo Animal Enrichment Team will spread some Christmas aloha to the animals at the Panaewa Rainforest Zoo and Gardens Zoo at 9 a.m. Dec. 3.
The public is invited to bring cameras and watch enrichment team members give Christmas gifts to all of the zoo’s furry and feathered friends. Visitors and the team will meet at the zoo’s Primadome.

DAR offering scholarships
The Hawaii Loa Chapter of the National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution announces the availability of more than 25 college scholarships for American citizens attending or planning to attend an accredited college or university in the United States.
Categories include political science, history, government, economics, medical, nursing, math, science, English, as well as more specific categories.

Applications are due by Feb. 10, 2017, and will be processed electronically.
Public invited to chorus concert
The Hilo Community Chorus will present “John Rutter’s Magnificat and Other Seasonal Songs” at 2 p.m. Dec. 3 at First United Protestant Church, 1350 Waianuenue Ave. in Hilo.
Amy Horst will be guest soloist. Harmonizers from the Hawaii Academy of Arts and Sciences in Pahoa, directed by Lisa Lilja Wells, will join with the chorus and sing a set of songs on their own.
Other guests are Herb Mahelona on cello and violin and Elan Kobel, clarinet.
The program also will include a set of Hanukkah songs and two choral favorites: “Christmas Day” by Gustav Holst with Andrea Christensen as soloist and “Fantasia on Christmas Carols” by Ralph Vaughan Williams with Allan Anderson as soloist.
The concert is free as a gift to the community. Donations are accepted.
