Takao Honda, 92, of Holualoa died Nov. 23 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Pahala, he was a laborer for Hawaiian Pines on Lanai, retired heavy equipment operator for Isemoto Contracting Co. and member of Kamalumalu Kumiai, Kona Daifukuji Soto Mission, Operating Engineers Local Union No. 3 and U.S. Army veteran. Visitation 3-4 p.m. Sunday (Dec. 4) at Daifukuji Soto Mission in Honalo. Memorial service at 4 p.m. Casual attire. Survived by son, Ross (Paige) Honda of Holualoa; daughters, Sharon (Robert) Rapoza of Waimea and Annette Honda of Holualoa; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild; nieces, nephews and cousins. Ronald Joseph Kipi, 76, of Hilo died Nov. 27 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was a retired kitchen worker for Hawaii County Economic Opportunity Council, heavy equipment operator for the former Hilo Coast Processing Co. and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Visitation 9:30-10:30 a.m. Tuesday (Dec. 6) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Prayer service at 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park. Casual attire. Alvin Hiromu Matsuura, 70, of Mililani, Oahu, died Nov. 13 at home. Born in Olaa, he was a retired teacher for Moanalua Middle School. Visitation 5-6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, at Hosoi Garden Mortuary in Honolulu. Services at 6 p.m. Survived by wife, Annelle Matsuura; daughters, Salli Nakaoka and Dana Rae (Nolan) Oshita; sister, Laraine (Richard) Narimatsu; five grandchildren. Takeyo Otsu Takahashi, 96, of Hilo died Nov. 15 at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born in Kaumana, she was a retired bookkeeper and member of Hilo Meishoin Mission and Hilo Yacht Club. Services held. No flowers or koden (monetary gifts). Survived by daughter, Audrey (Ronald) Furukawa of Keaau; sons, Clyde (Sharon) Takahashi of Katy, Texas, and Robin (Karin) Takahashi of Hilo; son-in-law, Terence Yoshioka of Hilo; brother, Harold Otsu; brother-in-law, Harold Ashida of Papaikou; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. Bernard Faisca Torres Sr., 80, of Hawi died Nov. 27 at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home in Hilo. Born in Kohala, he was a grounds maintenance worker for Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and member of Hawi Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Visitation 8-10 a.m. Saturday (Dec. 3) at Hawi Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mass at 10 a.m. Casual attire; flowers welcome. Burial at Halawa Catholic Cemetery in Kohala. Survived by daughters, Lisa Ann Torres of Kohala and Teresa Leilani Emiliano of Hilo; sons, Raynard Torres of Kohala, Bernard (Yvonne) Torres Jr. and Matthew (Laura) Torres of Hilo; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
