Winnie “Winifred” Barbara Gonsalves, 82, of Hawi died Nov. 23 at home. Born in Moanalua Gardens, Oahu, she was retired from Mauna Kea Beach Hotel and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hawi, Kaahumanu Society, Na Kupuna ‘o Kohala, Retired Seniors Volunteer Program and Kohala Senior Nutrition. Visitation 8-9:30 a.m. Saturday (Dec. 17) at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Eulogy at 9:30 a.m. Mass at 10 a.m. Private committal service at a later date. Aloha/casual attire. No flowers. Alfred Hart Jr., 85, of Honokaa died Dec. 8 at home. Born in Paauilo, he was a retired vector inspector for the state of Hawaii, U.S. Army veteran, member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa, Kanani O Honokaa Senior Makule Softball League and former coach for T-ball, Little League and women’s softball. Barry Toshio Mizuno, 68, of Hilo died Nov. 26 at the Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama facility. Born in Waimea, Kauai, he was an auditor with Haskins and Sells, a CPA with Hawaiian Electric, Theo H. Davies &Co. and Hamakua Sugar Co., finance director and managing director for Hawaii County, board member of W.H. Shipman Ltd., member of the University of Hawaii Board of Regents, owner’s representative for Puna Geothermal Venture, formed private energy consulting firm BTM LLC, and active with Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin, Japanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Hawaii, Hawaii Island Chamber of Commerce and Hawaii Island Economic Development Board. Visitation 1-3 p.m. Saturday (Dec. 17) at Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin Temple. Memorial service at 3 p.m. Fellowship to follow at the temple’s Sangha Hall. Born in Ola‘a, she was a retired accountant at Fort Shafter in Honolulu, former president and member of Keaau Village Association and member of Puna Hongwanji Mission, Buddhist Women’s Association, Hilo Higashi Hongwanji Mission, RSVP and founder of the BWA Christmas wrap.
