From right, fourth-graders Eli Yamaki, 10, Kilee Hatakenaka, 9, and Mia Pollen, 8, help Uilani Soares of the Red Cross display a pillowcase that students will decorate and fill with a disaster evacuation kit during a presentation about emergency preparedness Thursday at E.B. de Silva Elementary School. The presentation is part of the Pillowcase Project, sponsored by Disney. Red Cross volunteers lead students through a “learn, practice, share” framework to engage them in disaster preparedness and survival skills.
