Hawaii electors want CIA report on possible hacking
HONOLULU (AP) — Hawaii’s four Democratic electors are joining a movement asking for information about possible Russian hacking during the presidential election.
They asked President Barack Obama to release a CIA report about the topic, saying in a news release late Tuesday that they have an obligation to cast votes in an election free from tampering from outside entities.
The move follows a letter sent Monday by 10 electors requesting information about ongoing investigations into ties between Trump and “Russian government interference in the election.”
Hillary Clinton won Hawaii, so the state’s electors are bound by law to vote her when they cast their votes Monday (Dec. 19).
State investigates possible discovery of bones at beach
HONOLULU (AP) — State officials say they’re working to figure out what to do with possible skeletal remains found at a beach along Oahu’s north shore.
Cheryl Oga of Waialua said she was shocked to discover what appeared to be “a skull, arm bones and a spine” scattered along the shoreline while fishing at Mokuleia Beach two weeks ago.
Ron Okimoto, the executive director of the nearby YMCA Camp Erdman, said the organization was first alerted to the remains by another beachgoer in November. He said Honolulu police and representatives from the state Department of Land and Natural Resources came out and placed a marker at the site before taking off.
The department said it is “aware of the situation, and is working with the appropriate state agencies, Camp Erdman staff and community to address it.”
