FORT MEADE, Md. (AP) — Fort Meade is getting a new top enlisted soldier.
Garrison officials at Fort Meade near Baltimore say in a statement that Army Command Sgt. Maj. Brian Cullen is taking over from Command Sgt. Maj. Rodwell Forbes at a change-of-responsibility ceremony Friday.
Forbes has served in the position since August 2014.
He plans to retire from military service in June.
Cullen was previously assigned to Schofield Barracks in Hawaii.
The garrison command sergeant major is the senior noncommissioned officer at Fort Meade, responsible for providing guidance, mentorship, assistance and support to the approximately 110 soldiers employed directly by the fort. He or she also serves as a liaison between the garrison commander and the senior enlisted advisers of military units among the post’s 119 tenant organizations.
