Taylor Doherty

Sport: Swimming

Doherty has been a standout since she hit the BIIF pools for Hawaii Prep during her freshman season, and she’s also long been making her mark on the state’s club circuit for Academy Swim Club in Waimea.

At the age-group short course championships last weekend on Oahu, Doherty helped Academy finish fifth among the Oahu heavyweights, finishing as the fifth-highest point-scorer in the ages 17-18 division.

The HPA senior won the 100 backstroke in 57.72 seconds, setting an Academy Swim Club record and qualifying for sectionals, taking home 10 medals in all.

Doherty also was a part of four silver medal-winning relay teams and one that took bronze, and she brought home four individual bronze medals, setting club record in three of those events.
