Big Island Wellness Solutions began distributing the third edition of its booklet “Hawai‘i Healthy Me” to fourth-graders throughout Hawaii Island.
“Hawai‘i Healthy Me,” which promotes healthy lifestyles, is sponsored by KTA Super Stores and the Margaret B. Shipman Foundation.
Audrey Wilson, president of the nonprofit Big Island Wellness Solutions, compiled “Hawai‘i Healthy Me” and shares with the booklet’s sponsors her passion for a healthier Hawaii. She strongly believes in the motto, “We are what we eat.”
Included in the booklet are comments by Barry Taniguchi, KTA chairman and CEO.
“As my career at KTA Super Stores developed, the long hours and the many banquet lunches and dinners made it difficult to eat a rainbow of fruits and vegetables at every meal,” Taniguchi writes.
“The fast-paced life meant eating without much thought of eating healthy because other more pressing matters took priority.
“Then I discovered you can still be a busy person and eat healthy.
“I realize now how important taking care of one’s body is and feel it is important to make sure everyone on the Big Island lives a healthier lifestyle.”
“Hawai‘i Healthy Me” is being distributed with the assistance of the Rotary Club of South Hilo and other organizations.
