Police arrested a 24-year-old Hilo man on suspicion of robbing a Hilo bank Wednesday morning.
At about 9:53 a.m., officers responded to a report of a robbery at a bank on the 500 block of Kilauea Avenue.
Police didn’t identify the bank, but Central Pacific Bank, at 525 Kilauea Ave., is the only one located on the block.
Police say the suspect entered the bank, produced a note demanding money and fled the area with an undisclosed amount of cash.
No one in the bank was injured, police said.
The suspect, Toby L. Amuimuia, was arrested at 10:06 a.m. on suspicion of second-degree robbery. He was taken to the Hilo cellblock while detectives continue to investigate.

This is the second reported bank robbery on the Big Island this year. Last month, police arrested 30-year-old Russell Monlux of Hilo for allegedly robbing American Savings Bank in Kealakekua.
