Sometimes the performances speak for themselves.
Mattos pushed Waiakea to two victories at the BIIF Division I boys basketball tournament, scoring 24 points with six assists in a semifinal win against Kamehameha, then going for 16 and eight in the title-clinching win against Konawaena.
Oh yeah, Mattos also hit a game-trying 3-pointer against the Wildcats, allowing the Warriors to win on a last-second layup.
A repeat for Waiakea, and perhaps a third BIIF Player of the Year honor for Mattos.
