Ka’u beats Pahoa 19-7

Ka’u beats Pahoa 19-7

Pahoa achieved one victory simply by being able to field a softball team this season.

The Daggers made plans to pull out of BIIF play last week, but athletic director Hoku Fernandez said two more players joined the team, allowing an underclassmen-heavy Pahoa squad to take the field for its opener Wednesday.

Ka’u beat the Daggers 19-7 in Pahala, scoring 11 runs in the first inning.

Analei Emmsley finished with a triple and two RBIs for Ka’u, Chaunalisa Velez also tripled and Sheri Freitas came on in relief to get the victory.

Kamalani Noll was the losing pitcher for the Daggers.
