The skinny: Brendan Hornung pitched eight scoreless innings in Honolulu, but Aaron Ping hit an RBI single in the top of the 11th and came around to score to lift the Dons (4-1).
UH (1-3) was down to its last out in the 10th when Jonathan Weeks walked and scored on Josh Rojas’ RBI double to tie it 1-1.

The skinny: The matches feature two of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation’s top defensive teams. Winners of nine in a row, No. 4 UH (14-2, 5-2 MPSF) ranks first in the league in blocking (2.68 per set) and digs (8.91) while the Waves are second (2.49) and third (8.88), respectively. The Warriors also lead the league with a .197 opponent hitting percentage. …
The Waves (6-5, 4-4) are coming off a five-set loss to USC in Los Angeles. Outside hitter David Wieczorek leads the Waves attack with a 3.80 kill average, hitting .360. …
Sophomore Stijn van Tilburg has been UH’s most consistent attacker, cracking double-digits in kills in 11 of 15 matches played, and he
leads the team with a 4.23 kill average, which ranks fifth in the MPSF and sixth nationally. His .372 hitting percentage leads all UH hitters.

Brittany Hitchcock (3-2) suffered the loss dropping her record to 3-2. She threw four innings, allowing five runs on nine hits with a walk and three strikeouts. Nicole Lopez homered for UH.
