Manuel “Maning” Delo Santos Sr., 90, of Captain Cook died Feb. 15 at home. Born in Kohala, he was a self-employed coffee and macadamia nut farmer, U.S. Army World War II veteran and aircraft mechanic, and member of Kona Lions Club, Ilocano Ancestry Club and American Legion. Visitation 7-9:30 a.m. Thursday (March 2) at St. John’s Catholic Church in Kealakekua. Mass at 9:30 a.m. Burial to follow at West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery in Kailua-Kona. Aloha attire; no flowers. Memorial donations to Lions Club of Kona, P.O. Box 287, Kealakekua, HI 96750. Megumi Yugawa, 91, of Pepeekeo died Feb. 5 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hakalau, he was a retired mechanic for HT&T, member of Hilo Coast United Church of Christ in Honomu and U.S. Army Korean War veteran. Services held. No flowers or koden (monetary gifts). Survived by daughter, Thal Critchfield of Seattle; son, Elton Yugawa of Mililani, Oahu; sisters-in-law, Hanako Yugawa of Pepeekeo and Helen Yugawa of Hilo; brother-in-law, Tatsumi Hisatake of Aiea, Oahu; nieces and nephews.
