Banyan concerns

What’s happening on Banyan Drive?

Every property on Banyan Drive already has a party interested in a long-term lease and in fixing the properties up with their own funds.

So, why is our county government trying to make the redevelopment of that area the obligation of the rest of us to pay?

And even if giving the hotels there taxpayer help they don’t need was a good idea, it wouldn’t be justifiable as a higher priority for tax dollars than medical care, affordable housing or education, to name a few more important community needs.

If you agree, call someone in the government you think will listen. Make a choice, have a voice!

‘Great failures’

In John Lockwood’s letter (Your Views, Feb. 26), he stated, “Trump is a master at blaming others for his great failures,” but does not list any of these great failures.

Tell us about some of these great catastrophic failures, Mr. Lockwood.

I suppose you have a list of many, since President Donald Trump has been in office for a total of about five weeks. He has a few failures but none I would label as great and nothing that cannot be overcome. I agree we should have a free and fair press but not an arm of the left and the Democratic Party.

I am not a “sheep-like follower” of President Trump because he does lie, as does the Democratic Party, the far left, the Republican Party, the far right and news outlets. There are sheep-like followers of those saying that anything President Trump does is wrong.

Some of these followers are those who will not even use common courtesy and address the president as President Trump or Mr. Trump.

Economy needs help

Economist Paul Krugman and columnist Dana Milbank say the economy is doing just fine and that changes proposed by President Donald Trump will do little to make things better. In fact, they seem to think they will only benefit the rich.

The fact is, many Americans are not satisfied with the state of the economy.

This is why so many Democratic lawmakers throughout the country have been replaced by Republicans.

I am optimistic there will be a big improvement in the economy despite the predictions by these two Trump detractors.

Dump Doonesbury

Please take Doonesbury out of the Sunday comics. Gary Trudeau is not funny. He’s just a hateful, snarky liberal trapped in his cartoon world.

It might serve better in another section of the paper.
