Kupu Care, a community-based palliative care program, is inviting the public to a free community talk titled, “Where Quality of Life Matters for Patients and Caregivers” from 5:30-6:30 p.m. March 15 at the organization’s Community Building, 1011 Waianuenue Ave. in Hilo.
The session will be presented by Kupu Care’s clinical relations manager Lani Weigert, who will share information that can benefit any person living with a chronic illness and those who care for them.
The talk will cover topics such as avoiding hospitalizations, receiving emotional support, getting relief from pain and caregiver burnout.
“Kupu Care is such a unique program,” Weigert says. “It provides services at home to a growing population in rural areas of seriously ill patients that normally fall through the health care gap, placing an emphasis on emotional support that normally would go unchecked.
“Patients have shared that this alone has brought them tremendous peace.”
