The nonprofit Ku‘ikahi Mediation Center is hosting a free talk from noon-1 p.m. Thursday as part of its “Finding Solutions, Growing Peace” Brown Bag Lunch Series in the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney, 655 Kilauea Ave. in Hilo.
The talk is free and open to the public.
This month’s speaker is communication and relationship facilitator Andrea Pro, who will discuss “Taking the Scariness Out of Conflict.”
“Underneath most conflicts are differences that are simply expressions of our uniqueness,” Pro said. “It’s a great loss for everyone when we shy away from exploring our differences.”
In this interactive mini-workshop, explore why people fear conflict and how to take the lead in forging a safe environment to invite open dialogue with others. Pro will look at three must-have skills for navigating differences with clarity and confidence.
Pro’s work involves a heart-opening process of self-discovery along with communication tools and skills that support people in deepening authenticity, trust and respect in their relationships. A business owner for more than 30 years, Pro, based in Kona, also is a professional artist and uses these skills daily in her personal and work relationships.
Ku‘ikahi’s Brown Bag attendees are encouraged to bring their own lunch, enjoy an informal and educational talk-story session and meet others interested in “Finding Solutions, Growing Peace.”
The talks, partly funded by the Atherton Family Foundation, are scheduled for the third Thursday of each month.
