Camilo Ramoran Carlos Sr., 86, of Pahala and formerly Naalehu died March 12 at Ka‘u Hospital in Pahala. Born in Naalehu, he was a retired steam generator operator for the former Ka‘u Sugar Plantation and member of Naalehu Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Pahala Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Friends can call 8-10 a.m. Saturday (April 1) at Pahala Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Celebration of Mass at 10 a.m., cremation to follow at Dodo Mortuary Crematory in Hilo. Darnell Kehaulani Fontes, 45, of Hilo died Feb. 27 at the Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Facility. Born in Hilo, she was vice president of Island Estate Jewelry Inc. in Hilo, a former roller derby girl, golfer and billiards player, and member of Hawaii Classic Car Cruisers. Catherine Ford, 63, of Pahoa died Feb. 3 at home. Born in Ames, Iowa, she spent more than 30 years working in human services, was a business owner, community volunteer, charter member of the Weinberg Fellows and honorably discharged U.S. Navy veteran. David Kawika “Owl” Kaiu Jr., 64, of Nanakuli, Oahu, died Jan. 29 at the Hale Hoola Hamakua facility in Honokaa. Born in Honolulu. Celebration of life at a later date. Survived by brothers, Haines M. William “Bill” Kulakauka Pakani Sr., 93, of Waiokawa (King’s Landing) died March 2 at the Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Hanapepe, Kauai, he was a retired power plant operator for the Hawaii Electric Light Co. and member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Keaukaha Ward.
