For the fourth consecutive doubleheader, the Vulcans split, beating Notre Dame de Namur 12-2 on Monday before getting shut out, 4-0, in Belmont, Calif.
UHH (12-16, 6-12 PacWest) scored four runs in the first inning and three in the second and finished with 12 hits to back Leah Gonzales.
Danielle Antolin hit a home run, Brinell Kaleikini collected a double and a triple with two RBIs, and Kristen Ishii, Mari Kawano and Billi Derleth also had a two hits apiece.
Gonzales also hit a home run, and drove in three runs, and in the circle she improved to 3-3. She went five innings, allowed six hits, one earned run and struck out three.
In the second game, UHH’s bats went silent. NDNU’s Audree Vicory pitched a shutout, allowing only five hits, two of them by Antolin.
Derleth (3-3) took the loss.
The Vulcans had runners on second and third in the third inning, but couldn’t score. That would be their best opportunity of the day.
UHH will play another PacWest doubleheader tomorrow, taking on Holy Names at Cal State East Bay.
