Joseph John Doria Sr., 88, of Captain Cook died April 13 at home. Born in Honolulu, he was a retired fireman at Kona International Airport, coffee farmer, member of Kai Opua and Honaunau canoe clubs and U.S. Army veteran. Services held. Survived by wife, Helen Doria of Captain Cook; sons, Joseph (Desiree) Doria Jr. of Kealakekua and Kimo (Douri) Doria of Captain Cook; daughters, Alberta (Bryan) Allen of Kirkland, Wash., and Penelope (John) Souza of Captain Cook; sister, Loretta Cambra of Hawaii Kai, Oahu; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Pamela Jean Lewis, 64, of Keaau died March 28 at home. Born in Kansas City, Mo., she was a retired emergency room technician at Hilo Medical Center and member of Soka Gakkai International-USA. Malia Pumehana Wheeler Kaupiko Fujikawa, 38, of Hilo died April 3 at Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Kona, she worked in the medical profession and was a loving mother, committed friend and protector of Hawaiian land, sea and culture. Born in Honolulu, she was an attorney, retired assistant corporation counsel, former deputy public defender and member of Hawaii State Bar Association, Hawaii County Bar Association, Big Island Women Lawyers Association, Democratic Party, Zonta Club of Hilo, Ulala Red Hat Society, Naval Air Station Pool “Mermaids,” YWCA pool group and Kamana Senior Center.
