• Oregon State University student Logan Yukio Sato of Hilo accepted membership in the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.

NSCS is a member of the Association of College Honor societies and is the nation’s only interdisciplinary honors organization for first- and second-year college students. Membership is by invitation only, based on grade point average and class standing.

Sato, 18, is the son of Darrel and Sandy Sato.

Thomas Yoo, a senior at Hawaii Preparatory Academy, was named a National Merit Scholarship winner in the 62nd annual National Merit Scholarship Program.

Yoo won the National Merit Delphi Foundation Scholarship. Delphi is a leading global supplier of electronics and technologies for automotive, commercial vehicles and other market segments.

Yoo is the son of Sae Keun Yoo and Sun Won Moon of Seoul, South Korea.

Yvette Perez of Hilo and John Keller of Pahoa were among Grantham (Lenexa, Kan.) University’s March graduates of its online degree and certificate programs.

Perez received a bachelor of science in nursing (from RN associate) and Keller earned an associate degree in criminal justice.

Lopaka O’Connor of Papaikou was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2016 semester at Washington University in St. Louis. O’Connor is enrolled in the university’s College of Arts &Sciences.

Logan Tsuji of Kurtistown recently performed with the University of Evansville (Ind.) Jazz Ensemble in concert with renowned band leader Doc Severinsen as part of UE’s Patricia Snyder Concert and Lecture Series. Tsuji is a music performance major at UE.

• Wheaton (Ill.) College Conservatory of Music student Benjamin Robbins of Kailua-Kona played cornet in a jazz combo concert on campus.

Scholarship

North Hawaii Community Hospital has scholarship opportunities available for graduating high school students and students in the field of nursing.

The Peggy Dineen-Orsini Scholarship offers a $2,000 award to a resident of Hawaii County who is enrolled in or accepted for enrollment in a National League of Nursing accredited program in Hawaii or on the mainland. The scholarship is in memory of Peggy Dineen-Orsini, who was a registered nurse at North Hawaii Community Hospital from 1996-2004 and remembered for her compassion for her patients, colleagues and friends.
