The UH-Hilo men’s golf team posted a 7-over 285 for the third consecutive round at Turtle Bay Resort (Fazio Course) in Kahuku, Oahu, climbing two spots to finish sixth at the 10-team Pacific West Conference championships.
Freshman Taylor Patrick finished with a 2-over 74 and led the Vulcans in a tie for 18th at 4-over 220, which was two shots better than Jeffrey Yamaguchi, who closed with a 71. Another two shots back was Kamehameha graduate Preston Lee-Ching (77, 8-over 224).
BYU-Hawaii held off California Baptist to win the team title by three strokes, 845-848. Dixie State was next at 855, followed by Holy Names at 857, Dominican (874) and UH-Hilo (885).
Cal Baptist’s Greg Gonzalez shot a 66 to hold off BYU-Hawaii’s Nicolas Herrera (66) for a two-shot win at 14-under.
Also participating for the Vulcans were Jared Kinoshita (79, 9-over) and Braeden Campbell (73, 11-over).
