Josh Rojas hit two home runs and Dustin Demeter, Adam Fogel and Eric Ramirez added one apiece for the Rainbow Warriors, who dropped the opener of this three-game Big West series.

The ”Bows fell to 22-16 overall and 4-6 in the Big West. The Matadors won their fifth in a row to improve to 21-22 and 8-5.

UH starting pitcher Brendan Hornung exited with 5-4 lead after five innings. But the Matadors hit two homers in a three-run sixth against Colin Ashworth to take a 7-5 lead they would not relinquish.

Rojas, Fogel, Demeter and Logan Pouelsen collected two hits each.

Saturday’s game starts at 10 a.m. Hawaii time.

Wahine win

Callee Heen hit a pair of two-run home runs and Brittany Hitchcock tossed her 26th complete game of the season as Hawaii beat UC Riverside 5-1 in Honolulu to start a three-game series.

Hitchcock (17-9) scattered seven hits and allowed just one run. She issued one walk with six strikeouts to lower her ERA to 1.83.

The Wahine (26-18, 5-8) snapped a three-game losing streak.
