Born in Hilo, he was a retired ramp agent for the former Aloha Airlines, member of Big Island Amateur Radio Club and U.S. Army World War II veteran. Services held. Survived by wife, Jeannette Kuwada of Kailua-Kona; son, Kenneth Kuwada of Honolulu; daughter, Jeri (George) Greenhouse of Hilo; daughter-in-law, Gaylien Kuwada of Honolulu; sister, Loretta Hazlewood of Aiea, Oahu; brothers-in-law, Kenneth Kam and Ronald (Sandra) Kam of Kailua-Kona, Thomas Kam of Sunnyville, Calif.; sisters-in-law, Edwina Booth and Earlene Kaiawe of Kailua-Kona; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Thomas “The Lack” Earl Lackey, 73, of Puna died April 11 at home. He grew up in Waterbury, Conn., and was an entrepreneur, fishing charter boat skipper, bar and restaurant manager, fresh-fish importer and wholesaler, chemist, artist, political cartoon blogger and huli-huli chicken vendor. Ray Downie Stewart, 75, of Hilo died March 29 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Pepeekeo, he was an attorney, retired U.S. Postal Service executive, historian and genealogist, Hawaii Plantation Museum docent, Peace Corps volunteer and member of Huguenot Society of New Hampshire, Guild of Artisans and Tradesmen, Sons of the American Revolution and First United Protestant Church of Hilo, serving as treasurer and pastoral relations committee member.
