Responding officers learned a 28-year-old Hilo man had been assaulted by a local male who fled the scene immediately after the incident. Witnesses described the alleged assailant as a large Hawaiian man weighing between 250 and 300 pounds. He left in a sedan possibly a silver import, police said.
The victim was taken to Hilo Medical Center for treatment.
