As a prelude to November’s “Hawai‘i Nei 2017” exhibition, organizers are hosting a workshop titled “Hawai‘i Teas and Native Trees” from 12:30-4:30 p.m. Saturday at the Wailoa Center.
Artists are invited to bring their favorite teacup for an afternoon of artisanal tea and creativity. The workshop will feature a brief presentation by local tea cultivator and Hawaii Tea Society board member Eva Lee.
Participants also will be guided by instructor Darcy Gray, creating contemporary abstract pieces of art while incorporating this year’s Hawai‘i Nei featured category, Kumula‘au, or native trees.
Registration and a $40 materials fee are required for the workshop. Space is limited. Wailoa Center is located at 200 Piopio St. in Hilo.
