Hawaii Emergency Physicians Associated
The Hawaii Emergency Physicians Associated Inc., the physicians who staff the emergency room at Hilo Medical Center and Hale Ho‘ola Hamakua in Honokaa, is offering two $3,000 college scholarships to students in Hilo and one $3,000 college scholarship to students in Honokaa.
The three awardees will receive $1,500 per semester. The aim of these scholarships is to assist graduating high school students from the East Hawaii region, who without financial assistance would have no opportunity to attend college. The most important considerations in the HEPA selection criteria are financial and familial hardship.
Application forms are available at the Hilo Medical Center and Hale Ho‘ola Hamakua administration offices.

Requirements
• Must show compelling financial need.
• Must be from East Hawaii.
• Must be a full-time classified student during scholarship year.
• Must be a graduating high school student.
• Provide photo copy of most recent report card or transcripts.
• Provide photocopy of SAR report or Free Application for Federal Student Aid for applicable school year.
• Submit two letters of reference from teachers, counselors employers or other individuals who are familiar with your character and potential. Include relationship to you.
Holomua Scholarship by Keaukaha General Store
Keaukaha General Store is accepting applications for its second annual Holomua scholarship of $1,000.
The scholarship is named “holomua” to encourage students to “improve, progress and move forward.”
“As graduating high school seniors or students who are continuing on to higher education, we want to encourage these students to look at the issues in their community and help them to start thinking of ways that they can help to improve and better where they come from,” said scholarship coordinator Breeani Lee.
The essay and application deadline is June 31. Late essays and applications will not be accepted. Completed applications can be submitted in person at Keaukaha General Store or emailed to Breeanik@aol.com.
The winner will be announced no later than July 15 and the scholarship will be disbursed to the enrolled university.
Requirements
• Must be a resident of the Big Island.
• Must be a senior at a Big Island high school or enrolled in a four-year undergraduate program or enrolling for the upcoming fall semester.
• No minimum GPA required
• Must write an essay answering the questions, “What do you consider to be the biggest problem in our society? Why? And how do you suggest improving it?”
Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association
The Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association Hawaii Educational Foundation will award more than 30 scholarships to Hawaii college students who are focused on science, technology, engineering, math, or cyber coursework. The grants range from $3,000-$5,000 per student.
The AFCEA-AHEF scholarships are merit based, academic scholarships so financial need or family income is not considered. They are available to any Hawaii student majoring in STEM core subjects regardless of whether they or their families are in the military. The money can be used for books or tuition at any accredited school in the world. In addition to academics, AFCEA-AHEF will consider volunteerism, character, leadership, professionalism, or excellence in technology.
