So you think you have a bad case of “brown thumb”?
For those who don’t dare to buy that pretty orchid plant they saw, or think that just because the flowers fell off their plant they killed it, Julie Goettsch, past president of the Hilo Orchid Society, has a remedy for you.
“The orchid doctor” and other experts will be on hand to dispense advice next weekend during the 2017 Hilo Orchid Show and Sale at Edith Kanaka‘ole Multi-purpose Stadium.
Goettsch and various other knowledgeable members of the society will be available to talk to the public about their particular orchid problems during show hours from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. June 2, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. June 3 and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. June 4.
They will have examples of different kinds of orchids and be ready to help with tips on how to grow them, and single-page handouts will be free for the asking.
In addition, presentations and demonstrations of how to grow orchids will be going on at every hour during the show.
