In observance of Teacher Appreciation Week, Mountain View Elementary School honored its teachers earlier this month with a Blue Zones-inspired breakfast.
Mountain View Elementary principal Wilma Roddy and vice principal Debbie Collins provided a healthy breakfast for teachers and staff to thank them for all they do in educating the area’s children, said Wendy Davis, event coordinator. The breakfast included fruit platters, pitaya (dragon fruit) smoothies, herbal tea, multigrain bagels, yogurt and Chic Naturals chickpeas.
Experts concluded that giving teachers the recognition they deserve as professionals is the best way to improve education in this country, Davis said. Few other professions touch as many lives as teachers.
“Showing appreciation to our teachers is a good investment in the school system,” Roddy said. “It’s also a great way to get to know the teachers more and work with them to provide the best possible academic experience for our children.”
“We all have to work together to make our school even better,” Davis added. “That means everyone in the community — parents, business owners, retirees, local government and yes, even students — are at the heart of the public school.”
