Police have identified the man who died from injuries sustained in the 3-vehicle crash Wednesday on Highway 19 near the 37-mile marker in Paauilo as 32-year-old Jacob De Jesus of Paauilo.

Police have identified the man who died from injuries sustained in the 3-vehicle crash Wednesday on Highway 19 near the 37-mile marker in Paauilo as 32-year-old Jacob De Jesus of Paauilo.

His death is the 20th official traffic fatality this year compared to 10 at this time last year. There are also four vehicle-related deaths this year on Hawaii Island police don’t count toward the official count because two occurred on private property and two in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
