Mary “Pancake Lady” Ynigues Alfiler, 92, of Paauilo died May 23 at home. Born in Honokaa, she was a retired pantry worker for the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel and member of St. Columba’s Episcopal Church in Paauilo, Paauilo Senior Citizens, Paauilo Nutrition Group and Paauilo ILWU Pension Club. Visitation 8-10 a.m. Friday (June 16) at St. Columba’s Episcopal Church. Funeral mass at 10 a.m. Graveside committal service at 10 a.m. Saturday (June 17) at St. Columba Episcopal Cemetery. Tricia-Lani (McNicoll) Au, 61, of Hilo died May 14 at Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Kailua-Kona, she was an executive assistant at the Lyman House Museum. Rebecca Setsuko Yamashita Berry, 88, of Honolulu died May 20 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, she was a retired administrative secretary for former U.S. District Judge Samuel P. King. Ma’rye J.S. Cawagas, 73, of Pahoa died May 26 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Natchez, Miss., she was a retired licensed practical nurse and ward clerk on the pediatric unit at Hilo Medical Center, queen of Na Papale Ula Wela O Hilo Red Hat Society, member of Hui Haukapila, Lei Hulu of Hilo and Hilo Medical Center Retirees, former chairwoman for the American Heart Association Relay for Life, and U.S. Army veteran (WAC). Robert Lee Kukua, 78, of Holualoa died June 3 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Kealakekua, he was a retired U.S. Air Force senior master sergeant, security officer, bellman at the former Kona Village Resort, coffee farmer, life member of the VFW, volunteer firefighter and member of the Retired Enlisted Association.
