• Tessa Sarr of Volcano graduated from Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pa., on May 21 with a bachelor of arts degree in Italian studies and was named to the dean’s list for the 2016-17 spring and fall semesters.
• Rebecca Petty of Pahoa graduated with a bachelor of science degree in nursing from Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa.
• Amanda Agdeppa of Honokaa was awarded a bachelor of science degree in biomedical engineering, with high distinction, from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, Mass.
• Welina M. Tong of Mountain View received a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Midland University in Fremont, Neb.
• Julius Vance G. Manglona of Hilo was named to the dean’s list for the 2017 spring semester at Baylor University in Waco, Texas. Manglona attends Baylor’s Hankamer School of Business.
• Cole deSilva of Hilo was named to the dean’s list and Ciera Min of Hilo and Edgar Allan Bartolome of Pepeekeo were named to the president’s list for the 2017 spring semester at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Wash. Min also participated in graduation exercises during Gonzaga’s commencement ceremony May 7.
• Hunter Ainslie of Waimea earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing and real estate and Dray Wilson of Kailua-Kona earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of San Diego on May 28.
• Sam Bader, a student at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wis., received the $287 Warren Hurst Stevens Prize, which recognizes a junior of high scholarship and activity in college affairs. Bader is a 2014 graduate of Kamehameha Schools Hawaii and is the son of Steven Bader and Rose Bautista of Hilo.
• Sidney Vermeulen, a Hawaii Preparatory Academy graduate, was named one of 723 semifinalists to advance in the final round of the 2017 U.S. Presidential Scholars competition. Vermeulen is the daughter of Tom Vermeulen and Koren Kobayashi of Kailua-Kona.
