Iglesia Ni Cristo gathering at ‘Imiloa
The Church of Christ (Iglesia Ni Cristo) cordially invites the public to a special service, “What People Who Call Themselves Christians Should Know,” at 7 p.m. Saturday at the ‘Imiloa Astronomy Center.
The astronomy center is located at 600 ‘Imiloa Place in Hilo.

Tiger Fun Day at Panaewa zoo
To celebrate the second birthday of the tigers-in-residence, Friends of the Panaewa Zoo is hosting a Tiger Fun Day from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. July 1 at the Panaewa Rainforest Zoo and Gardens.
Everyone is invited to come and party with the big cats.
The Hawaii County Band will perform from 10-11 a.m. There will be games such as treasure chest, wheel of fortune and fishing with prizes, and food booths with “ono grinds” and beverages for sale. Terry the Tiger and critter friends, face painting and the photo-taking will add to the fun.
There will be additional parking at the equestrian center with shuttle vans to and from the zoo.

Ballroom dance club offers classes
Put a little spring in your step this summer by enrolling in Wednesday night dance classes with the Big Island Ballroom Dance Club.
Classes begin July 5 at the Church of the Holy Cross on Lanikaula Street in Hilo. Registration begins at 6:30 p.m. and classes start at 7 p.m. There is a $15 fee for a yearly membership and a $6 fee per class for 10 weeks of lessons through Aug. 30. Some of the dances students will learn are the nightclub two-step, West Coast swing and cha-cha.
The club is hosting its International Night Dance on Aug. 26 at Aunty Sally’s Luau Hale.

HECO gives $10K to Outdoor Circle
A $10,000 donation from Hawaiian Electric Co. to the Outdoor Circle will help put 360-degree imagery of many of Hawaii’s impressive sites into Google Maps using the Google Trekker.
The addition of these images will allow residents and visitors alike to experience some of the islands’ scenic locations online. The Outdoor Circle partnered with Google to showcase the natural beauty of Hawaii to worldwide audiences.
The high-demand Street View Trekker camera is a wearable 50-pound backpack outfitted with a 15-camera system that collects panoramic imagery every 2.5 seconds to create a virtual tour. This summer, the Outdoor Circle’s two-man crew will trek throughout the state visually mapping scenic locations valued for their natural beauty, historic significance and other special qualities.
