Hilo’s Kailey Oki was two shots off a qualifying spot for the U.S. Girls Junior Amateur on Monday, carding a 2-over 73 to finish third in the field at Mauna Lani.
Allysha Mae Mateo (70) of Mililani, Oahu and Australian Stephanie Kyriacou (72) secured berths to the United States Golf Association tournament.
Hilo’s Lacey Uchida and Kaley Saludares both came in at 75, and Kaelyn Uchida carded an 87.
In the boys qualifier, Hilo’s Pono Yanagi fired a 2-over 73 and was sixth.
Remington Hirano (69) took medalist honors to reach the U.S. Junior Amateur.
Hilo’s Isaiah Kanno finished at 74, while Keaau’s Dillon Ah Chong and Ethan Hironaga each turned in 84s.
Waiakea air riflery tryouts
The Waiakea High School air riflery team will hold tryouts for all interested students for the 2017 season at the school gym at 6:15 p.m. from July 31-Aug. 3.
Students must have a 2017-2018 Waiakea physical and the following: safety glasses, long pants/jeans, covered shoes and either a long sleeved shirt or jacket.

AYSO sign-ups are ongoing
Player Registration is ongoing at www.hiloayso.org for the Hilo region of the American Youth Soccer Organization.
The season runs from July to November, and players must be born between 2002-2013.
Payment of $60 is available online.

Archery shoot set for July 22
The Hawaii Isle Archery Club welcomes all archers to participate in a 3-D archery shoot July 22 in Kaohe off Saddle Road. Registration is at 7:30 a.m. followed by the shoot on the 21-target course, which starts at 9 a.m.
