Tsuyuko “Sue” Nishiyama, 88, of Shoreline, Wash., formerly of Hilo, died May 22 at home. She was a retired Hilo Hawaiian Hotel employee and Hilo High School class of 1945 alumna. Private services and celebration of life at a later date. No flowers or koden (monetary gifts). Survived by her daughter, Karen (Bill) Curr of Shoreline; brother, Noboru “Jack” (Miyo) Tanita of Hilo; cousins, nieces and nephews.

Aleksey Viktorovich Merkulov, 19, of Keaau died June 22 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Kurganinsk, Russia, he was a construction worker.
