Frank Albert Ferren Jr., 78, of Kailua-Kona died June 17 at home. Born in Boston, he was a general surgeon and obstetrician specializing in sports medicine, 19-time Hawaii Ironman Championships competitor, Ultraman and Lavaman competitor, paddler with Kai O Pua Canoe Club and a U.S. Air Force veteran. Celebration of life at a later date. Survived by wife, Annie Ferren of Kailua-Kona; sons, Bradley (Keahi Mills) Ferren of Kailua-Kona and Gregory (Jenne) Ferren of Honolulu; daughters, Richann Ferren of Kailua-Kona and Noelani (Aaron) Boyd of Hermosa Beach, Calif.; sister, Virginia (Robert) Bowman of Connecticut; six grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
