Be a hero

Be a hero

What are you? A clerk? A bag boy? Between jobs?

If you are a blood donor, you are a hero. When I needed blood, I needed seven units of whole blood. Seven heroes saved my life.

Doctors don’t give blood unless it is vital. When you give blood, you are the hero.

Great effort

The Waimea Outdoor Circle wholeheartedly thanks all the community members who came out in force this past Saturday to help clear the overgrown section of the Waimea Nature Park located behind Longs Drugs store (which kindly donated water and ear plugs for everyone).

Saturday’s volunteers included the young and the old, seasoned and new helpers, and the task accomplished was remarkable.

A special thank you to Community Policing Officer May Lee, who spearheaded and organized this cleanup event for the second time and brought volunteers with her to help.

We also are overwhelmed with the generosity of Jon-Paul Mangarin, owner and operator of Rainy Day Landscaping, who donated his services and equipment all morning, chipping a massive pile of cleared tree limbs, brush and debris.

The Waimea Outdoor Circle will continue to conduct cleanup events, with a goal of clearing the remaining area of the nature park behind the stream and making it safer for everyone.

Please call 443-4482 or visit our website to find out how you can help. The Waimea Nature Park is maintained entirely by donations and a small group of volunteers who are not getting any younger!
